New York November 2008

This Dental Life and family are coming to NYC in November. We are going to the Greater NY Meeting. I was thinking of holding a small management Workshop one afternoon or morning in NYC. Are any of you US dentists likely to be in town, and would any of you be interested and meeting for a small inexpensive workshop on the sort of material discussed on the Podcast ?

Let me know.

This (Dental) Life - PodCast Fourteen - “Pareto”

Wikipedia says….”The Pareto principle (also known as the 80-20 rule, the law of the vital few and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. Business management thinker Joseph Juran suggested the principle and named it after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto who observed that 80% of income in Italy went to 20% of the population. It is a common rule of thumb in business; e.g., “80% of your sales comes from 20% of your clients.” In Dentistry it has some applications you may be familiar with….

Not a Podcast - a mailgroup

Hi and thanks for listening to this occasional outpouring of ideas.

To help spread the word about simple dental management and to have some communication between listeners, I have set up a yahoo group. If you are savvy enough to listen to a podcast, you CERTAINLY will be able to subscribe to a yahoo group. I see from the podcast reports that we have listeners in Asia, USA, Europe and South America. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

email me at ThisDentalLife-owner@yahoogroups.com or just go to www.bradwright.com.au and click on the link to the TDL mail group. It will be by approval only, so you need to tell me your involvement in dental practice.

Thanks

Brad

This (Dental) Life - PodCast Twelve - ” A little bit on Gross Nett and Discounting”

Making up for lost time over May and June, Brad produces another short podcast. Maybe it is Garageband, maybe it’s the new Mac, maybe it is 14 hours of unprofessionally recorded discourse….. It WOULD be nice to get some feedback… ? Is that a possibility ? Could someone tell me that they have USED some of it ? You would think I do this just for my own ego !!

This (Dental) Life - PodCast Eleven - “Time Money and Emotion”

In this episode, Brad outlines how we pay for things and discusses some accounting principles. Sound remains average, as this was recorded in Melbourne with a single floor mike.

Do you know when you buy or sell things, there is a mix of costs.. which may not always be obvious ?

This(Dental) Life: Podcast Eight CEREC - more than a palindrome ?

Cerec3.jpg

www.palindromelist.com/

Patrick Meaney and Brad Wright have been involved in CEREC dentistry for a while now, and used to train dentists when they bought machines. Recently they had a chance to talk and be professionally recorded (by Michael Vandiver of Best Practice Productions ) It seems they both don’t do many crowns any more - mainly inlays and onlays- with CEREC - why ?

Hear Patrick get bored with Brad’s questions early and talk about what he wants to, about Philosophy, ethics and enamel and other things which are, or are not as my sons would say “gay”

This (Dental) Life: VODCAST One - Start at the beginning

In a typical dental practicing life, 230,400 ’shots’ might be given by a GP dentist.

In a rare event, Brad pretends he can offer clinical advice. Well, sort of. Many years ago Ken James showed Australian Dentists how to not hurt people. So now, because it is so critical to building a loyal patient base, the basics of infiltration LA are shown - more or less in real time. You might not learn anything, but at least there is something to look at. This is more effort than the audio, so I had better get some feedback, or it will be very infrequent.

But seriously folks, do your patients tell you that they did not feel anything ?

Topical for two minutes, slow down, ask.
